Never judge a book by its cover! Open it up and have a read, just like Leah did with Summerlandish, the hilarious and self-deprecating memoir of Summer Land.

Friends With Benefits can work. Yep, you read that right. Friends With Benefits is like a mutual sexual agreement where there’s no break ups or marriage involved. You get all the good stuff in a relationship without all the bad stuff! Still in doubt? It’s possible, providing you follow these few simple rules.

1. Set clear guidelines, establish where you’re going to be at with each other – you’re in a purely physical relationship. This is just a bit of fun! Take advantage, FWB are a good opportunity to experiment or practice.

2. Under no circumstances is breakfast included. In fact, unless they’re licking it off your naked body, don’t give them food at all. This is not a BnB. Drinks are acceptable, however, only water or something alcoholic is allowed.

3. Know enough about him to avoid awkward silences and stimulate some pre- and post-bang conversation. His parent’s names and his birthday is pushing it.

4. Go for a guy that’s NOT your type. So he’s a bit of an asshole - that’s kind of a good thing, you’ll be less likely to get attached to someone who’s a jerk. After all, you’re not having sex with their personality are you? At the same time, know the line between ‘primary-school-mean’ and down-right disrespectful.

5. Limit sleepovers. No one wants that early morning “So-do-you-want-me-to-call-you-a-cab” convo.

6. No nicknames that remotely resemble something affectionate and no good-bye kisses. The colder you are, the better. I’m thinking, “bro, mate, dude”… you get my drift.

7. It is not acceptable to ditch your friends for your fuck buddy. Nuff said.

8. No long phone calls. Stick to simple texting. If you can, try not to initiate conversation unless it starts with “I’m bored and horny.”

9. Try to choose someone you know you will eventually be separated from. For example, Nicola knew Brad would be moving to Perth in three months time, so there was little chance of forming a serious relationship and good-byes were easy and expected.

10. End it the second you find yourself getting attached. Or don’t, but make it clear you’re moving from FWB status onto something much more or much less.

Sexism isn't just an adult problem

Sexist jokes are pretty common, sometimes we laugh other times we feel alienated. What's concerning is that girls are made the butt of the joke at such a young age and the boys are taught to laugh.
