Whenever I am told that someone is heading home to sit back and snuggle up in front of the TV I grow wildly jealous. Nothing says calm and entertaining bliss to me like some popcorn, a cozy blanket and some of my closest girls. One problem stands in the way of this perfection though: a sucky movie! Now I’m not talking a bad horror that you can laugh about afterwards. When you are eager to feel all the feels and laugh until it hurts, to have that seven-day hire your mum picked up from Video Ezy disappoint you is not okay!
But look no further ladies, here is part one of our 10 Must See Chick Flicks you can’t risk missing. Though some of these films may not be expected, this is a personal list of films I have adored for years and cannot help but recommend. Be warned: there may be a few spoilers ahead!

Top Ten Chick Flicks
10. The Little Black Book
The Roman philosopher Seneca once said that “‘luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.” I wouldn’t have known such a thing if it weren’t for this movie! Aspiring broadcast journalist, Stacey Holt (Brittany Murphy) has access to her boyfriend’s little black book (for relevance, imagine she has his phone passcode and no one is around). With this and her position as associate producer for a day time talk show , she investigates why his exes are still on the scene, the mechanics of the vicious media circus and some questionable work friends along the way. If there is one movie that straight up tells life as it is, Little Black Book sure has a sharp and giggle worthy way of doing it.
9. Down With Love
Down with Love transports you to the bright and quirky 60s. This unique film is filled with outrageous costumes, clever scripting and twists galore. One can’t help but adore the matching of Miss Zellweger and Ewan McGregor’s pearly whites. If you love upbeat comedy, go no further than Down with Love!
Are musicals your thing? Can’t go wrong with the classic Grease.

8.0 Breakfast At Tiffany's
It was extremely hard for me to place this masterpiece so low considering it’s my all-time favourite! This classic deserves a mention for its early take on a complicated romance between two troubled souls. The story follows the darling Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn), her nameless cat and her kind and caring neighbour Paul. In this we see what it’s like to love a wild thing, how to blend into society and of course love prevailing. Watching this just makes you want to paint your nails that Tiffany’s blue and throw glamorous 50s-themed get together.

7. The Vow
Channing Tatum. Need I say more?
But in all seriousness, grab a box of tissues and brace yourself for Nicholas Sparks’ The Vow. True romance takes place in this gorgeous film, when our boy Channing tries to make his wife (Rachel McAdams) fall in love with him all over again. A task much easier said than done, though I’m sure if most of us were in that situation we would not be fighting it!

We interupt this Top Ten to bring you a delicious picture of Channing Tatum..... You're welcome!

6.0 500 Days of Summer
So much kudos to this modern, offbeat take on love where typical gender roles are switched. 500 Days of Summer is a quality laugh and holds a lot of great lessons encased within. A little side note, there is a kick ass dance number that can’t help but make you happy. Be sure to check this quirky number out!
